Insert the jaw insert into the insulated shaft.

Anchor the jaw insert with your left hand then rotate the shaft clockwise a half-turn to lock the jaw insert in place.

Gently tap on the proximal end of the jaw insert to ensure that it is
anchored into place. If the jaw insert slides out of the shaft, repeat step 2.

Completely open the handle.

Fully insert the proximal end of the jaw insert into the handle. If the jaw insert becomes dislodged from the shaft, disassemble all components and restart the assembly process.

When properly inserted, close the handle to lock the system in place.

Completely open the handle.

With the handle fully opened, press down on the red release button.

Pull apart the jaw insert and shaft component from the handle.
NOTE: A twisting motion may help facilitate the separation of the two components.

Anchor the jaw insert with your left hand then rotate the shaft counter-clockwise a half-turn to dislodge the jaw insert from the insulated shaft.

Remove the jaw insert from the insulated shaft.
NOTE: Push down on the red release button if disassembling bipolar instruments.

Remove the red sealing cap on the insulated shaft and the black sealing cap from the handle. Prepare for cleaning and sterilization.
